In a memo released by the Managing director’s office, Mr. Naseem warned all MTCC employees of possible lay-off of employees associated with substance abuse (possibly of a hallucinating nature) and sexual misconduct. According to analysts this is a cautionary note to sex offenders and substance abusers.
“This is in violation of §§ 22 – 23 of the employment act of the Maldives”, commented a lawyer who expressed concern over the news. Some has viewed this as a zero-tolerance memo which, in time, will evict employees who are critical of the new management changes. While others who are in favpur of this memo has stated this will produce a well disciplined work force, and thus provide complete harmony at the work place.
